12/10/2023 0 Comments Kef ls50 meta sale![]() As I said in my previous post, at least in the showroom I heard them in I was disappointed with how the LS60’s sounded because they didn’t have the scale of sound, bass, and clarity of my current system. I went to check out the KEF LS60’s 3 months ago because I was considering simplifying my system and selling my 802D2 speakers and amplifier and buying the LS60’s and pocketing the $7,000 to $8,000 difference. Thanks to the even more ludicrous pricing of the current 802D4 speakers my 10 year old speakers have a resale value of probably between $11,000 to $12,000. 10 years later and 2 generations later the price of the latest generation 802D4 speakers has shot up to $36,000 Canadian retail. I was fortunate and bought a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 802D2 speakers 10 years ago for what back then was an outrageous $15,000. If you are in the market though for a all in one package powered speaker at this price range a 30% discount before possible further discounts from the retailer on these speakers is a pretty good discount.ĭid they have any traditional speakers setup for a comparison? I'm curious what a pair of b&w 603's would sound like with a decent amp compared to these. Most of the written and internet reviews I have seen for these speakers have been very positive. Sound is 50% dependent on the room and the room I heard these in was probably only about 150 square feet so maybe the room I heard these speakers in wasn’t a good match for them. I heard these bigger KEF LS60 speakers in Vancouver at the Hi Fi Centre and at least in the room I heard it in I thought the bass was lacking and the sound wasn’t as clear and detailed as I was hoping for. Nice and clear with great soundstage and vocals though lacking a little in deep bass. I have the little brother KEF LS50 W11 speakers and think they sound great in my small dining room. A pair of say R3 Meta, a sub and an amp / source might be a better choice IMO. ![]() That being said: not sure I have the $$ to drop on these in the first place but there's also so much technology in it, it'd scare me what might not be supported in 10 years. Speakers purchased at a good price can retain their value better than how you could spend on a lot of other hobbies. Some folks drive fancy cars, use fancy phones, spend on eating out / vacations or their Dyson's.but anytime someone posts a deal that isn't how the majority of people would spend their money, it always gets so much hate. People also prioritize how they spend money differently. Your time is better spent on figuring out how to be part of a solution instead of spreading hate. People have different incomes and are at different stages of life.I get some people are really struggling but hating each other isn't going to fix income disparity nor how expensive things are these days. I'm not sure why there is so much hate these days. What you can do today, however, is instead of mocking people richer than yourself. I don't even know what point I'm making haha just less judgment, y'all People are fine spending $1,500 on and iphone ( no issues from me ) but have issues with a pair of headphones you may use daily while working over the next 20 years. The Sennheiser HD800 post has the same responses. ![]() is ennundated with people complaining whom have never dipped their toes into these areas to see why people might love them.Įven when the pricing isn't as high as this. I completely understand that! Hence why my current towers were only $1500-$2k for the pair, but every enthusiast post about audio, coffee, etc. The people with money in investments that give them financial independence often recognize things like diminishing returns. There are limited ways to make a speaker more expensive and sound better at the same time past a certain point. One of the best materials for making a speaker cabinet is… MDF. It’s moreso that there are massively diminishing returns on audio gear beyond a certain point.įor example, some of the best materials for woofers are… paper and aluminum.
